The Versatile Ottoman

The word ottoman, describing a piece of furniture usually upholstered and having no arms or back, was introduced into the English language in the early 1800. Because the ottoman’s typical use in a reclining position was associated by early Europeans with the Orient, it acquired its name from a famous Oriental empire!
Because of our more relaxed lifestyle approach to furnishing our homes, the ottoman has become one of the most versatile pieces of furniture in use. Use your ottoman in new and creative ways:
• Place a tray on it and it becomes a coffee table
• It can be used as additional seating in any room setting
• At the end of a bed it becomes a beautiful bench
• It is always a perfect place to rest your feet!
